Ordered by when it has to happen: four weeks, one week, the morning, the two hours. The timings matter more than the decorations — an unplanned hour is chaos.

Questions people ask
- How long should a children's party be?
- Two hours for under-sevens, and plan every half hour of it. The gap between food and the cake is where a party falls apart.
- How many children should you invite?
- A common rule is the child's age plus one. It is arbitrary, and it is also the difference between a party you can supervise and one you cannot.
